How the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses were found & The Composition of Qin's Terra Cotta Army.

In 1974, a farmer found a pottery figurine's head by accident when he digging up a well. Astonish as he was, he reported the news as soon as possible to the local government. So afterwards, three vaults were excavated continuously and a large modernized museum was going to build in the national plan. From the trail trench density research, there are estimated 8,000 pieces of terra cotta warriors and horses were buried in the place. In pit No.1 which is the largest among the three, about 6,000 warriors and 30 chariots were arranged inside. Most of them are infantryman holding weapons such as bows, spears, halberds, swords and arrows.

Guarded by four volumes of soldiers facing four directions individually outside, the pit was constructed nearly 12,000 square meters. Pit No.2 is almost not excavated. But from the X-way detective method, it is a much complex army formation consisted of infantryman, cavalryman, archers and charioteers in which the individual formation can fight against the enemy separately and harmoniously. Pit No.3 is the smallest among the three; there are only 68 soldiers and a chariot with four horses inside. Because of its headquarters' position, it is still very carefully protected nowadays. In 1980, two sets of bronze chariots were excavated 20 meters west of the mausoleum. Still many wonderful bronze making techniques used on the chariots and weapons like wielding, riveting, mounting, embedding and carving can not be reappeared even today.
