Elephant Trunk Hill
Elephant Trunk Hill is situated in the southeast of Guilin city and west bank of Li River. It has a history of 3.6 hundred million years. It looks like elephant leisurely drawing water from the river with its long trunk. With an elevation of 200 meters, the hill towers 55 meters above the water, measuring 108meters long and 100 meters wide. On the top of the hill stands Puxian Pagoda. It was built in Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and looks like the handle of a sword. Between the trunk and the legs of the elephant is a full moon like cave, penetrating the hill from side to side. When water waves under Gleaming moonlight, the scene is exceedingly enchanting. So people nicknamed it "Moon -over-Water Cave". In and out of the cave are over 70 carvings and inscriptions from the Tang and Song dynasties, of which the most well known is a poem by Lu You (1125-1210), one of the four great poets of Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279).

Rooster Fighting Hill
Rooster Fighting Hill is not far from Elephant Trunk Hill. It is consisting of two hills, which look like two fighting roosters face each other across the Li River, so it is got this name. The hill on the east bank is Chuanshan Hill (Tunnel Hill), and looks just like a rooster opening its eyes wide and holding up its long tail. While the west one is called Gamecock Hill, which just like a rooster with its crest lifted highly. Both of them are named "Rooster Fighting Hill". The best place to appreciate the Rooster Fighting Hill is near the Iron Bridge, which is located to the south of Jingping Hill. If standing there to look back, the fighting gesture of these two roosters will be more distinct and vivid.

Dayan Town is located in the county seat of LiJiang, on the north bank of the Li River, about 29 kilometers by river from Guilin. It is the ancient city of Lijiang and a largely Naxi settlement first built during the Southern Song Dynasty some 8 centuries ago. With a history of over 800 years, it is one of the few places in China with well-preserved old style folk buildings. So this area has become known as the "Second Suzhou". Local people to save cleaning efforts mostly pave roads in the town with stone boards, which is an ingenious approach developed in ancient times. The entire city spreads out in all directions, the famous Sifang Road is its core, which literally means four directions in Chinese.
