The wisdom of Naxi ethnic people is vividly reflected in their way of using water resources. Water of Black Dragon Pool, the main source of live water, running from north to south is separated into three branches to the east, west and ahead. Each branch is subdivided into more and more narrow branches, which finally flow to all the households in the town. That's why there are so many lanes, streets, lodgments and bridges surrounded by water. Normally, local residents drink water from upper reaches, wash vegetables by water from middle reaches and wash clothes by water from lower reaches. It is really a masterpiece representing harmony between human and nature, isn't it!
