Living Area: most in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, also in Gansu, Qinghai, Henan, Hebei, Shandong Yunnan and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Language: Chinese, some Arabia and Persia words are preserved
Religion: Hui people believe in Islam or Qingzhen. "Qing" means cleanness and being away from evil behaviors; "zhen" means the truth. They pray and hold religious activities in the Mosque, which a typical building style of Hui. Before praying they always wash their whole body or the face, feet and hand.

Ethnic Costum: Hui people wear the similar clothes as Han people, except that men wear white skullcap and women often wear veils. For men, clerks and elders often wear yellow or white silk caps while most others white brimless caps. The color of veils indicates the status of the women. Pink---unmarried young women; black---middle-aged women; white---over 60 years old women.
Diet: the eating habits of Hui are not the same everywhere. Ningxia Huis are fond of flour cuisine; Qinghai Huis favor wheat, corn, highland barley and potato. City Huis are accustomed to drink tea with milk. Anyhow, beef and mutton are the main diet of Hui people. Tea is considered as the best to entertain guests. Huis never eat pork, dog, horse, donkey and mule.
Folk Song: the folk song "flower" is widespread in Gansu , Ningxia and Qinghai . In Gansu province, annual "flower" fair is held from the 1 st day to the 6 th day of Lunar June in Lotus Town of Linxia Hui Autonomous state.
Festival: Each year, in the 9 th month of Hui calendar, all the guys over 12 years old and girls over 9 years old cannot eat anything from sunrise to sunset until the next month. It is called Festival of Fast-breaking. Then each family holds celebration for three days to entertain relatives and friends with abundant beef and mutton. More than twenty or thirty kinds of food are cooked on that day.
