If we compare China as a human, the Yellow river and Yangtze are his vein and artery. So the Great Wall can be referred as his strong spine and then the Silk Road is doubtlessly a piece of splendid silk cloth cloaked on his figure.
1. The Name Originality:
Silk Road was firstly opened by a Chinese diplomatic official of Han dynasty Zhangqian in 139 BC. It was originally set up for military proposes, from Xian to Turkey today, and later became a commercial pass. For a lot of Chinese silk business was dealt with on the road, it was endowed with a beautiful name---Silk Road. The silk was well known and deeply loved by Europeans for this road. Together with Chinese porcelains, tea and gunpowder, Chinese culture was also transferred to the west world. So was the western culture to ancient China as well.
2. The Discovery of Historic Remains:
Many years ago, Europeans can only know something of Silk Road from the book "Adventures of Maco Polo" written in 13th century AD. Up to now, more and more Europeans begin to search the Silk Road by themselves. They could drive a car or ride a camel with enough food and water.
According to the historic legends, there are many mysterious ancient kingdoms buried under the far-reach desert area and a great amount of treasures hidden in the countless cities remains. So at the beginning of 20th century, a huge number of western travelers, adventurers, archaeologists and scholars went to China in wish of some unexpected discoveries. In 1900's, a team of Swedish archeologists uncovered a city remains of an ancient kingdom LouLan which once was one of the 36 ancient kingdoms 2000 years ago. In 1985, a group of Chinese archaeologists unearthed a maiden corpse in an ancient tomb who had done a sleep of 3800 years even the face looked as fresh as a 18 years old girl. A Buddhist treasure house Dunhuang Grottoes were faced to public with 45,000 square meters Tang frescoes, 2,000 pieces of pottery figurines and a few Buddhist scripts. An authentic Buddhist Relic of Sakyamuni the only one preserved in the world was also unearthed in remains of Silk Road...

The Unforgettable Impressions:
Quite different from East China, the West Region is far less advantageous and opened. Taking up almost one third of Chinese territory, there is only 9% of Chinese population living in this wild, arid, mysterious and great area. Still this land is like a shy girl veiling her face to the crowds; a lot of surprises are waiting to be unfolded. If you ride a car for a Silk Road traveling, you can appreciate the different cultures of Islam, Christianity, Buddhism and some eccentric ancient religious along the route. The sceneries are so distinct from the East. Strange stone hills, high snow mountains, vast prairie, blue sky, limpid brims and splendid monasteries will surely affected you at the first sight. Sometimes, a charming Islamic girl wearing a dazzling dress passes by when you meander on a bazaar. Sometimes, you are thirsty very much after having a piece of roast lamp and soon are presented a plate of sweet melons by the warm-heated local inhabitants.
