China visa or Taiwanese certificate and Tibet Entry Permission are two necessary documents for travelers without Chinese mainland's ID card, including those with foreign nationality or those from Taiwan.

Travelers can take flights to Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xian, Chongqing, Xining and HongKong.

Now the Qinghai-Tibet railway is opened, travelers can also take trains to Lhasa from Beijing, Xian, Chengdu, Xining, Chongqing and Lanzhou.

How to apply Tibet Entry Permission

You can ask local travel service to apply Tibet Entry Permission for you by providing your personal information such as name, nationality, age, sex, occupation, contact information and passport No., as well as Tibet Tour Itinerary and the copy of passport and visa. Or you have to submit the materials above to the local office of Tibet Tourism Bureau by yourselves.

Normally it takes two work days to verify your materials and then the travel service will give you a confirmation of Tibet Entry, with which you can buy air & bus tickets and process your tour.

The best Season to Tibet

Generally speaking, April to October is the gold time to Tibet.

Due to the high altitude, chilly climate, evident temperature difference between day and night and long term sunshine time, travelers need to prepare proper clothes. Sunhat, sunglasses and sunstroke cream should be in your package in all the seasons.

In spring and autumn, normally March to May and September to November, it is rather cold, dry and windy, so jacket and woolen sweater are necessary.

In summer, normally June to August, it is cool in the morning and a bit hot in the afternoon, so shirt, casual trousers and skirt are suggested.

In winter, normally December to February in the coming year, it is chilly and dry, so heavy coat, jacket, woolen sweater, gloves, scarf and feather-down jacket are necessary.
