Highland Discomfort

It is normal that travelers feel uncomfortable when they arrive at Tibet, which is located more than 3000 meters above the sea level.  Since the oxygen in highland is not as sufficient as that in plain area, travelers may feel it difficult to breathe as usual and may feel headache, muscle ache and insomnia. Such symptom may last about three days.

How to prevent Highland Discomfort

Before entering highland area, you should have a thorough and strict health examination, ensuring that no pathological changes happen to your heart, lung, brain, liver and kidney. It is also venturous for patients with serious anaemia and hypertension to enter the highland.

  You'd better not eat too much once you enter highland area
  You'd better not drink and smoke
  Eat vegetables and fruits which is rich in Vitamin
  Drink as much water as you can
  You'd better spend half a day to have a good rest at the arrival in Tibet
  ving a cold is a great danger to your lung, so please keep yourself as warm as you can
  u'd better bring some highland discomfort medicine
  u'd better choose a hotel with clinic which can efficiently deal with highland discomfort
  ep using lip moisture and sunbeam preventative cream so as to make you not too dry

Don'ts when getting along with Tibetans

  Don't take pictures withour permission;
  Don't talk about touchy topics such as politics and religion;
  Don't eat the meat of dog, monkey and horse.

Eat in Lhasa
In Lhasa, travelers can taste various cuisines of Tibet, Canton, north China, Huanan province, Sichuan province and so on.

Deji Road is a famous road in Lhasa for its Sichuan cuisine, hot pot, local snacks of all kinds, western restaurants and bars.
