How to Apply for the Tourist Visa

An individual traveler can apply for the tourist visa at the Chinese embassy or consulate nearby. China has embassies in many foreign countries. You can either get an application form in person at the embassy or consulate or download one in the website of Chinese embassies in foreign countries. Then you can submit the completed application form to the nearest Chinese consulate or embassy.

When applying for a tourism visa, you will need to prepare for some extra documents. For individual tourist visa, a confirmation letter of the travel agency in China or letter of reservation of hotel in China is required. For group tourist visas, a confirmation letter from a provincial tourist bureau of a travel agency authorized by Chinese government.

Tourist visa usually validity of three months, but it can be prolonged for one more month at the Foreigners Section of the Public Security Bureau.

Macau Visa

Passport holders of the following countries can enter Macao without a visa:

Asia   India , Indonesia , Japan , Lebanon , South Korea , Malaysia , Philippines , Singapore , and Thailand

Africa   Egypt , Seychelles , and South Africa

Americas   Brazil , Canada , Mexico , and USA , URUGUAY

Europe   Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, and United Kingdom

Oceanic  Australia , Kiribati , New Zealand , and Samoa

Hong Kong Visa

Passport holders of the following countries DO NOT need a visa within the specified visa free period. Travelers of those countries not mentioned below or those who want to stay longer need to apply for the appropriate visa or entry permit from the nearest Chinese Embassies in Different Regions and Countries. As an alternative, you may submit your visa or entry permit application to the HKSAR Immigration Department either directly by post or through a local sponsor.
