China Panda

More than 2 million years ago, pandas had inhibited widely in the south area of China, therefore it is known as fossil alive. They were firstly discovered by a French priest in 1869, and used to be exhibited in Chicago zoo of America, and it was also the national present sent to Nicxon when he visited China for the first time. Since then giant pandas, which were famous all over the world, are regarded as the symbol of prosperity and friendship, and even the ambassador of peace and love. Now the total number of pandas in the world is no more than 1000. They can only be found in Sichuan, Shaanxi and partly area of Gansu province.

Due to environment destruction and human being capture, pandas are going to distinct. That is why they are one of the most valued endangered animals.

Located just 10 kilometers away from downtown, Giant Panda Research Base in Sichuan Province created and imitated the natural environment of pandas. The Center also cares for other rare and endangered wild animals. Black-necked cranes and white storks as well as over 20 species of rare animals are fed and bred there throughout the year.

The Giant Panda Museum was opened in 1993 to further improve scientific education and arouse public awareness of the protection of wild animals and their environment. It is the only thematic museum for rare and endangered animal species of the world. The three major exhibitions are Giant Panda Hall, Butterfly Hall and Vertebrate Hall.

Pandas Personality

The personality of panda can be summarized briefly in three aspects:

Solitary of Bamboo Forest   

Although pandas symbolize friendship, they prefer living alone in bamboo forest to having fun with other animals unless in the warm spring.

Skillful Climber   

With plump bodies, pandas can still climb smartly between trees to reach food or escape from harm.

Water Drunker   

Living near waters, pandas are fond of drinking water very much. No matter how far it is, once they find water, they will be absorbed in drinking hungrily.
