Chaohu Lake
Chaohu Lake gets the name for its shape. A lot of famous intellectuals like Libai, Luoyin, Suwu and Jiangxie in ancient times composed poems for it. Luyou, a great poet at South Song Dynasty, wrote such a line as "without any ink, the scenic spots are poems by themselves."
There are two islands in the center of the lake, one is Laoshan Island (Lao means grandmother), and the other is Gushan Island (Gu means girl). A legendary tells that a mother and her daughter are transformed into two hills in order to rescue their hometown fellows.
Bantang spring, in the northeast corner of the lake, is a wonderful sanatorium place. Spectacular lantern exhibition and dragon boat race are held in Chaohu Lake.
Memorial Temple of Baozheng
Memorial Temple of Baozheng was originally built in 1066 in memory of Baozheng, a household upright officer during Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). It is located in Baohe Park southeast of the city center, covering an area of one hectare.
The memorial temple was constructed in the typical architectural style of Song Dynasty. It mainly consists of Entrance Gate, the Second Gate, the Stele Pavilion, the Main Hall, the Second Hall and the exhibition rooms. The bronze statue of Baozheng stands in the Main hall. It is 3 meters high and 2.5 tons in weight. Baozheng sits upright with one hands placed on the chair and the other clenched. Total:
