Chongqing is located in the upper reach of the Yangtze River. It is the nation's fourth municipality after Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin. Chongqing, also called the "Mountain City" or "River City", is the largest city in Southwest China. It is a hub of water and land communications and an important industrial center in China. It is also the starting point for a cruise on the Yangtze River to visit the scenic spots, the world famous Three Gorges Dam Project and historical sites along its banks.
Chongqing has a long history of more than 3,000 years. It was originally called Jiangzhou, Yuzhou and then Gongzhou, before getting its present name nearly 800 years ago. Many dynasties have set up various administrative institutions there, which endowed the city with brilliant cultural recourses and tourist attractions. And also Chongqing is the symbol of Changjiang civilization and the cradle of Bayu culture.
Chongqing attracts visitors from home and abroad with its cultural heritage and natural attractions. Tourist attractions in the city include the Dazu Grottoes , Chonging Museum as well as many other scenic spots.
