Xiamen , a Special Economic Zone, is an island city linked with the mainland by a long causeway of road and railway. It is situated in the southern part of Fujian province, between 118 
04´ east longitude and 24 26´ north latitude. It covers an area of 1,565 square kilometers with a population of 1.24 million.
Its history dates from Song Dynasty when the administration organizational system began. At Ming Dynasty, Xiamen was established as a major seaport. Xiamen port is one of the top 10 ports of China .
