Gansu is on the joining point of Inner Mongolia Highland , Qing-Tibet Highland and Loess Plateau on the upper reaches of Yellow River . It occupies an area of 450,000 square kilometers with a population of 23.7 million. Lanzhou is its provincial capital city.

The history of Gansu can be traced back to Spring-autumn period. It is also a necessary passage by which Zhanqian at Western Han Dynasty went to the West Region, which Xuanzang, a monk in Tang Dynasty exchanged Buddhism with Ancient Indian, and Macro Polo went on his adventure. It is Hexi Corridor where the Silk Road caravans came down and the Great Wall was built through.

With brilliant culture, Gansu is quite abundant in historical relics and natural sceneries.

In Lanzhou, there are four mountains: Lanshan Mountain Park , on the top of which the whole city can be seen; White Pagoda Mountain which is famous for the White Pagoda Temple; Mountain of Five Springs where there are five springs dotting in different places and Xinglong Mountain .
