City Guide:
Lanzhou is the provincial capital city of Gansu province.
Covering an area of 1,631.6 square kilometers, it is inhabited by 2,804,600 people.
In ancient times, it is also called "gold city" which symbolizes that it is as solid as gold. The history of Lanzhou can be traced back to New Stone Tool Times which is about 5,000 years ago. In Tang dynasty, it is a vital communication stop of Silk Road and Asia-Europe Continent Bridge .
Today the city is a key transportation point connecting the central part and other parts of China. It is surrounded by mountains from north to south with Yellow River flowing from east to west. From southwest to southeast, the land belongs to the stretching part of Qilian Mountain . Most parts of northwest are highlands with hills rising and falling. As for the city landscape, there are Zhongshan Bridge , the first bridge over Yellow River in memory of Dr. Sun Yat-sen and Waterwheel Park where there is a large waterwheel.
Two mountains are worth visiting: Lanshan Mountain Park, on the top of which the night scene is beautiful; Five Springs Mountain Park which has five springs and Buddhist architecture. Outside Lanzhou city, Labrang Monastery is Tibetan Buddhism's most important monastery outside Tibet .
