Major Tourist Cities
Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region

Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is situated in the southern part of China, bordering Vietnam on the north. It covers an area of about 230,000 square kilometers with a population of 45 million. It is basin-like and the limestone distribution occupies half of the total area. Nanning is the provincial capital city.

Guangxi is a multinational province with Zhuang, Yao, Miao, Tong, Maonan, Yi, Shui and others, besides Han nationality. Zhuang people take up one third of the total population. Combined with the exotic ethnic custom, Guangxi also attracts tourists for its typical Karst land form and breath-taking natural beauty.

Guilin is a popular tourist city of Guangxi. It offers picturesque Karst scenery along the Li River down from Guilin to Yangshuo. Reed Flute Cave and Seven Stars Park impress visitors with fantastic stalactites, stone pillars and rock formations. Elephant Trunk Hill resembles an elephant leisurely drawing water from the river with its long trunk.

Besides the natural sceneries, which can fully relax yourselves, you can also enjoy fantastic performance "Impression Miss LiuSanjie" vividly exhibiting the classical folk songs of Miss LiuSanjie, a legendary singer of Guangxi Zhuang ethnic group and various ethnic customs of Guangxi Autonomous Region, setting in the natural stage of Li River.

The most typical local food you can taste in Guilin is Rice Noodles. With multitude of materials like beef, pork, intestines, ham, belly, pancake and spicy flavor, this local specialty is usually served in soup with vegetables.

Longsheng and Sanjiang are known for their Dong and Zhuang ethnic minority villages. Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces in Longsheng and the Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge in Sanjiang are worth visiting. The former one was first built in Yuan dynasty and completed in Qing dynasty as the crystallization of the wisdom and labor of Zhuang people. The coiling line spiraling up from the mountain foot to the top makes the mountain look like a huge snail from far distance. The latter one is built for avoiding wind and rain.

If you are tired of the life in modern city, Guangxi is a wonderful place to make you forget the unhappiness of urban life. You can take train or flight from most Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai. And after the tour, you can take train from Guilin to Shenzhen, with easy access to Hong Kong.
