City Guide:
Guilin is located in the northeast of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It covers an area of just 565 square kilometers and is considered to be the pearl of China 's booming tourist industry for its natural beauty and historic treasures.

As far as more than 300 million years ago, Guilin was immersed in the boundless ocean. Because of the crustal movement, the land gradually emerged. And then after a longtime of exposure to the wind, rainwater and sunshine, it developed into typical Karst ground form and gradually formed peak and stone clump with peculiar shape and magnificent deep cave with stalactites and stalagmites. These make Li River and mountains around Guilin outstanding among all the mountains and rivers in the world, and that's why the city and the river are reputed as "No.1 mountains and river under Heaven".
The city has a history of over 2,000 years. In 214 B.C, QinShiHuang, the first emperor of Qin Dynasty ordered to built Ling Canal and established Guilin Prefecture. Since then, Guilin became an important strategic place of South Sinkiang , which was connected with the coast in the south, reaching Central Plains in the north. Since Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127) it has been the political, economic and cultural center of Guangxi.
With green mountains, crystal clear waters, unique caves and beautiful stones, Guilin boasts many natural attractions. Elephant Trunk Hill resembles an elephant leisurely drawing water from the river with its long trunk; the scenery along Li River is one of China 's top tourist destinations, with its eye-pleasing scenery and fine taste of life far removed from the concrete metropolis. In Seven Star Park , seven peaks form the pattern of seven stars in the Ursa Major constellation (Great bear or Big Dipper).
