Zhaozhou Bridge
Zhaozhou Bridge is located 40 kilometers away southwest of Shijiazhuang city. It is one of the most famous ancient bridges in the world. The bridge was built between 596-605AD by Lichun, a stonemason of the Sui Dynasty. The bridge is one of the oldest stone arch bridges in China, and is also called "No. 1 bridge in the world." The Zhaozhou Bridge is also honored as an outstanding model of stone arch bridge in the history of bridge construction in the world. The bridge spans the Jiao River and is 50 meters long and 10 meters wide. The balustrades are beautifully decorated with dragons and other mythical creatures. The Zhaozhou Bridge is a good place to learn the art of ancient Chinese architecture.
Xibaipo Revolution Site
Xibaipo Revolution Site is located in the northwestern part of the city of Shijiazhuang. Xibaipo is a village, where the communist leaders established their base from the year 1947 to the year 1948. It was in Xibaipo that Mao zedong, Zhou Enlai and Zhu De led the northern campaign against the Kuomintang. There is a revolutionary Memorial Museum in Xibaipo village. More than 60 hotels, actually renovated farmhouses are now available in Xibaipo. Hebei province is home to the "118 Red Tourism Sites". Xibaipo is one of them. From the village of Xibaipo one can learn the history of the communist party of China during the anti-Japanese war.
