Hubei province is in the middle reaches of Yangtze River , in the heart of the central part of China. It covers an area of 180,000 square kilometers with a large population of 60,280,000. Its provincial capital city , Wuhan , is located in southeastern part of the province.
With railways and highways across the whole country, the province is of strategic importance, for it connects the south with the north and the west with the east. It is an important base of heavy industry. By now it has developed a comparatively comprehensive industrial system with automobile, iron and steel, mechanical and electrical equipments, textile, chemical industry and building materials as its pillars.

East Lake , the biggest lake within a city in China is one of the major tourist attractions in Wuhan. Yellow Crane Tower is one of the three famous towers south of the Yangtze River. The heaviest musical instrument in the world, the set of bronze chime bells unearthed from the Tomb of Marquis Yi of Zeng State can be found in Hubei Provincial Museum.
