Mountain Hengshan

Mountain Hengshan is one of the five most famous sacred mountains in China. It is located in the central part of Hunan province and is 50 kilometers away from Hengyang city. Mountain Hengshan is famous for its beautiful scenic spots and the cultural spots influenced by the Taoist and Buddhist believes. The mountain ranges from Hengyang city to the Changsha city with a length of 800 kilometers. There are altogether 72 peaks in the mountain, of which the highest one is the Zhurong peak. It is 1,290 meters high.

The history of Mountain Hengshan can be dated back to 5,000 years ago. It was said that Yellow emperor and Shun emperor once came here to pay homage to the heaven and earth, which are widely respected by Chinese people. There were also some Taoist priest and Buddhist who once lived here. So the Mountain is also considered as the sacred land for both the Taoism and the Buddhism.
