As the capital city of Jilin Pro vince , Changchun is the political, economical and cultural center of the pro vince . It is located in the center of the northeastern plain. Changchun covers a total area of 18,881 square kilometers and is inhabited by a population of 6.83 million. Changchun is a huge, sprawling industrial city based on coal, petroleum and iron. The city is renowned today for its numerous colleges, its movie studio and also the Number One Automobile Factory, producer of the ubiquitous Liberation Truck and Red Flag automobile. Changchun is also famous for the Changhchun Film Festival .
Changchun once served as the capital of the Puppet Manchurian Government, a Japanese-controlled state from 1932 to 1945, better known as Puyi, as its emperor.
There are many tourist resources in the city of Changchun . The Culture Square is the second-largest in the world (after Tian'anmen), and was to be the site of a Japanese-style palace in the past. The most notable attraction in Changchun is the Puppet Emperor's Palace , where the last Chinese emperor, Puyi, was established as a powerless figurehead by the Japanese from 1932 to1945. Next to it is the Jilin Provincial Museum , which is a blend collection of artifacts and maps. Jingyue Lake is also a good place to visit when traveling in Chagnchun. Total:
