Jiangxi Province is located in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. It covers an area of 1,669,000 square kilometers and is inhabited by a population of about 400 million. It is one of the top tourist cities in China. Its capital city is Nanchang, a revolutionary city and center of new industry.
Jiangxi province got its name during the Tang Dynasty (618 --907 AD). It is also called
Gan for short, for the Gan River runs through it from north to south. The capital of Jiangxi Province is a revolution base during the period of anti-Japanese war. Jingdezhen is famous as China's porcelain city. It began producing pottery at least two thousand years ago. The porcelain produced in Jingdezhen was highly regarded as "as white as jade, as thin as paper, as bright as a mirror, as tuneful as a bell".
The province of Jiangxi has a long history and lots of places of interest. The most famous tourist attractions in Jiangxi include the Old Street and Jingdezhen Ceramic History Museum in Jingdezhen and Tengwang Pavilion in Nanchang, the capital city of the province.
