City Guide:
Macau is located on the south-eastern coast of China . The territory comprises a peninsula and two islands in the Pearl River Delta of Guangdong Province . Some 60 kilometers to the northeast, across the mouth of the river, is Hong Kong , an important financial and trading center of the world. Macao covers an area of 20 square kilometers and is inhabited by a population of 500,000.
Macau was once a fishing village many years ago. Since the middle of the 16th century when the first Portuguese came here, the island has been a melting pot of both the ancient Chinese culture and the western culture. Macao's unique history made it different from any other cities in China . The main tourists attractions in Macao are the A-Ma Temple , the place where people pay homage to the most popular goddess A-Ma in Macao; and the Wine Museum , where to learn the history and culture of the development of wine.
