Tai'an is a city with a long history and a brilliant culture. It is the original source of Dawenkou Culture of five thousand years ago. During the Spring-autumn Period and Warring States Period, Qi-Lu Culture in the Taishan Mountain Area significantly influences people all over the world.

The median and cultural causes of this city are in the forefront of Shandong Province. Its pillar industries are machinery, chemicals, textiles, building materials and other light industrial goods.

Mt. Tai is the major scenic spot. Since Qin and Han Dynasty, emperors have done their worship here until Ming and Qing Dynasty.
