Tai'an City is at the center of Shandong Province, east China, occupying an area of 7,762 square kilometers, with all kinds of landforms: mountains, hills, marshlands, lakes and so on. Mountain regions are mainly in the north and east of the city.

Tai'an is a city with a long history and a brilliant culture. It is where Dawenkou Culture originated five thousand years ago, which reflects the whole course of the transition from matriarchal society to patriarchal society and the disintegration of the primitive society. During the Spring-autumn Period and Warring States Period, Qi-Lu Culture in the Taishan Mountain Area significantly influenced people all over the world.

Mt. Tai, one of the five top mountains in China, is the major scenic spot. Since Qin and Han Dynasty, emperors have done their worship here until Ming and Qing Dynasty.

Mt. Tai International Mounting Festival is held annually in September since 1987. The activities mainly include mountain climbing, economical trade and culture exhibition.

If you are interested in Mt. Tai, you can start your tour from Jinan, the provincial capital city of Shandong Province. It takes about 1.5 hours driving from Jinan to Mt. Tai. You can travel to Jinan from Beijing by bullet train, which spends just more than 3 hours.
