Dali is 400 kilometers away from Kunming and is in the northwestern part of Yunnan province . The city covers an area of 28,536 square kilometers and is inhabited by a population of 3.19 million of Han, Hui, Yi and Tibetan nationalities.
Dali was built during Ming Dynasty. It is now a famous historical and cultural city with beautiful natural scenery and colorful ethnic minority group customs.
There are well-preserved traditional houses of the Bai Ethnic Group people. There are also many historical relics, ancient buildings and rich minority customs, such as the "Foreigners Street", the ancient Yuxi School, tea houses, antique shops, Chinese and Western restaurants and so on. The most famous scenic spots in Dali are Erhai Lake and Mountain Cangshan .
