As the capital of the Zhejiang Province , Hangzhou is situated in the northern part of the province. The city of Hangzhou covers an area of 16,596 square kilometers and is inhabited by a population of 17,189,000.

Hangzhou is the economic, cultural and political center of Zhejiang Province . With its beautiful and interesting natural and cultural spots Hangzhou has become one of the top tourist cities in China .

"I can not forget about the beauty of the South of the Yangtze River (Jiangnan in Chinese), especially the beautiful and romantic Hangzhou ." Bai Juyi, one of the most famous Tang Dynasty Poets once said. One of the greatest travelers Macho Polo once called Hangzhou " the most beautiful and magnificent city in the world ." 

Today, Hangzhou is one of the most important historical and cultural cities designated by the Chinese government. To the east of Hangzhou is a booming modern metropolis. To the west are old palaces, temples, exquisite gardens and rolling hills covered by many of the finest tea plantations in China . The main attractions in Hangzhou are the West Lake and some 40 scenic spots scattered around this mountain and lake area. The Pagoda of Six Harmonies, the Tomb of Yue Fei, the statues of the Flown Over Peak , Lingyin Temple ( Temple of the Soul's Retreat) are the most famous sights in Hangzhou . The ancient town of  Wuzhen , with its unique culture and architecture is also a good place to visit when traveling in Hangzhou .

There has been an ancient Chinese saying "Above the heaven there is the paradise, while under the earth there is the Suzhou and Hangzhou ." Hangzhou is really a good place to visit when traveling in China .
